Family Fun Day

We are pleased to say our first CCOG 'Family Fun Day' of 2012, will explode onto the scene on Saturday 12th May from 12noon until 4pm with a host of old and new activities with something to interest everyone. We are pleased to confirm 'Funky Chicken' will be entertaining everyone brave enough to have their face painted or enjoy playing with balloons! We have been made an offer we couldn't refuse, from the Firefighters of Campbeltown!! They have kindly offered their BOUNCY CASTLE and will look after everyone enjoying themselves bouncing on it. As the community garden has very few level sites, Jill (Auchinlee manager) has kindly allowed the BOUNCY CASTLE to be put up on their front lawn with any donations being shared between Auchinlees Sensory Garden fund and CCOG's running costs. There will be the usual Tombola with Malcolm, craft activities, refreshments, treasure hunt with Steve. Come and see our amazing, new wildlife hide with cameras, where you can sit down with a cuppa and watch the Bluetits nesting (may even have chicks hatched out by our Family Fun Day - May 12th 12noon - 4pm!) We are hoping to have our new Maket Garden Sales office open for business offering our garden produce for suggested donations (we also have 70ltr bags of compost for a suggested donation of £5). Come along and check out how far your community organic garden has developed in the past 5 years, you will be amazed. Please be generous with your donations as we are struggling to keep pace with ongoing running costs etc.

Grand Orchard Opening

Mr. Mike Russell, our MSP will open our newly planted orchard in the Market Garden at 12.30pm Friday 24th February 2012 and the Pupils of Castlehill Primary School will be presenting their hard earned donation to CCOG to help buy wildlife food Our fruit trees were donated C/o John Hancock of 'Common Wealth Orchard', who were funded by Awards 4 All. FREE eating apples, pears, cooking apples, plums, cherry trees are being distributed by Jim Paterson of 'Tarbert and Skipness Community Trust'. The fruit trees are free for anyone to collect (delivery may be arranged). Castlehill pupils are presenting their cheque which will go toward our wildlife food bill and is much appreciated. Everyone is welcome and there is refreshments on offer (donations welcome) so come along and see how our Market Garden developments are moving ahead. Our Raspberry canes, planted last autumn, have made it through the stormy weather but sadly our polytunnel covers didn't but we have new covers thanks to our Common Good Fund and our insurance company. Our CCOG Watch TV will be open to watch the wildlife eating the newly replenished bird food, well worth a visit.
